HelloBetter Secures Over €6 Million to Accelerate International Expansion and AI Development
Berlin, Germany – March 06, 2025 – HelloBetter, a leader in digital mental health care, today announced that it has secured over €6 million in cash and media-for-equity. The round was lead by Mutuelles Impact – managed by XAnge – with participation from MMV, HealthCap, Expon and DvH Ventures. This latest injection of capital brings the company's total funding secured by the company to €31 million. The funding round follows on the heels of HelloBetter's recent announcement of €3 million in non-dilutive funding for the development of an AI-powered mental wellness solution.
Strategic Expansion into French Market
A key priority for HelloBetter in 2025 is the entry into the French market. Mutuelles Impact, a €95 million fund with a social and environmental impact, dedicated to health and medico-social initiatives and managed by XAnge - which led this funding round, is funded mainly by 65 French Mutuelles on an original idea by La Mutualité Francaise — supplementary health insurance providers that complement social security coverage provided by the state. HelloBetter intends to leverage this strategic connection to launch pilots and close long-term partnerships, the company's first outside the DACH region. The partnerships with the Mutuelles will make HelloBetter’s digital mental health solutions widely available to their members. Besides offering its currently marketed portfolio of digital therapeutics, HelloBetter will also offer its new innovative AI products to these partners. Moreover, HelloBetter will also pursue regulatory approval by the HAS with the aim of securing nationwide reimbursement in France.
"This funding will enable us to do three things: become a household name for mental health in Germany, launch new, innovative products and, with the support of XAnge and its 65 Mutuelles partners, bring our proven digital mental health solutions to the French market”, said HelloBetter CEO & co-founder Hannes Klöpper.
“We are thrilled to support the German leader in Prescription-DTx its developments in France. The regulatory framework is still very new in France and carries promising perspectives for companies such as HelloBetter that have very early on focused on conducting high quality clinical studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of their digital therapies. HelloBetter has also proven to yield significant volumes of prescription activations in Germany and associated revenues, we believe it is well poised to continue generating economies of scale on the European market”. Nadja Bresous Mehigan, Partner XAnge Impact.
Building on Proven Success
HelloBetter's expansion plans build on its strong foundation in evidence-based digital therapeutics. Today, the company offers ten online therapy programmes addressing various mental health conditions. Six of these programmes have been approved by the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) and as such are part of the standard of care in the German healthcare system. More than 120,000 patients have already benefitted from these programmes, bearing witness to both the accessibility and the effectiveness of the mental health support HelloBetter provides.
“As the global political climate becomes more hostile, conflicts escalate, and social media becomes a breeding ground for unchecked disinformation, the strain on people’s mental health is probably greater than it has been in decades,” Hannes Klöpper continues. “People need quick, accessible, and affordable support, and our aim is to provide exactly that — on a global scale. We are committed to stepping up as a leader in digital mental health, offering solutions that allow anyone to find support whenever and wherever they need it.”
